Italian NGO Ricerca e Cooperazione Initiated Their Fisheries Project
Italian NGO Ricerca e Cooperazione, the grantee of the "Civil Society Dialogue between Türkiye and the EU - II Project" Agriculture & Fisheries Grant Scheme run by Ministry for EU Affairs initiated their project with an opening meeting on the 29th of July, 2011 in Seferihisar, İzmir. Mrs. Fatma Can Sağlık, the Director of Agriculture and Fisheries Directorate of the Ministry for EU Affairs, participated in the meeting.
Following the conveyance of the congratulations and acknowledgements note of Turkish Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator Mr. Egemen Bağıþ, Mrs. Sağlık gave some information to the attendants on the Common Fisheries Policy and the importance of Türkiye's adaptation. The meeting was continued with tasting of local delicacies of Seferihisar.
With its budget of € 171.975,60 the project aims to improve the production and marketing standards of fisheries in Seferihisar region through sharing best practices and knowledge conveyance within the collaboration of European counterparts. Together with its Turkish partner, the Fisheries Association, Cooperazione targets the group of 400 small scaled professional fishermen resides in Seferihisar, Sığacık and Doğanbey territory of İzmir.
