"Local Steps Towards the Implementation of EU Marketing Standards" Project Opening Meeting

The "Local Steps towards the Implementation of EU Marketing Standards" project of the Municipality of Sarıyer within the Agriculture and Fisheries grant scheme of the Civil Society Dialogue - II Project was introduced to the public with an opening meeting on 18 July 2011 at the Municipality of Sarıyer Mareþal Fevzi Çakmak Mahalle Konağı.

The meeting was attended by EU Affairs Expert Makbule Okat from the Directorate of Project Implementation of the Ministry for EU Affairs; the Mayor of the Municipality of Sarıyer, Þükrü Genç; Deputy Mayor Seçkin Özdemir, Adnan Aybar; Deputy Mayor Hayati Kaptanoğlu, Director of the Directorate for Agriculture of Sarıyer, Yavuz Acar; Members of Municipality Council, Head of the Turkish Marine Research Foundation, Prof.Dr. Bayram Öztürk; representatives of fisheries cooperatives and NGO's, Director of the Environment Management Center of the Union of Municipalities of the Marmara Region, Aynur Acar and an Fisheries Politics Expert from the European Bureau for Conservation and Development, Arianna Broggiato.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Sarıyer, Þükrü Genç and Deputy Mayor Seçkin Özdemir delivered a speech on the aims and targets of the project.

The Project is granted 102.722 Euro and will last for 12 months. Within the project, a strategic plan for  the implementation of EU standards will be developed and a Europe- Türkiye Fisheries Communication Network will be established.
