"Implementation of the EU Standards in the Küçükçekmece Retail Fish Market" Project Informing Meeting

Informing meeting of "Implementation of the EU Standards in the Küçükçekmece Retail Fish Market Project", which was granted within the framework of Civil Society Dialogue-II - Fisheries and Agriculture Component, was held on 20 July 2011 at Sefaköy Culture and Art Center.

At the meeting in which Feyzullah Özcan, Deputy Governor of Istanbul, and many guests attended, details and the objectives of the project and its importance regarding the Türkiye-EU dialogue were explained.

On behalf of the Ministry for EU Affairs, Makbule Okat, Expert from Directorate of Project Implementation, attended to the meeting which was chaired by the Project Coordinator, Semra Aydın Avþar.

Having 144.810 Euros budget the Project has been implemented with the slogan of "Good quality and healthy fish from bench to the table" and aims to form a fish market in line with the EU norms. Furthermore, it is aimed to give training to the fishmongers and the staff of the health and municipal office who will be responsible for the supervision of the fish market.

Within the scope of the Project, a study visit will be organized to the Lithuania and the successful practices will be viewed. The Project will come to an end with the certification and for the first time in Türkiye the certificate of ISO 22000 (HACCP) will be given.
