EUSG Hosts Students of Paris School of International Affairs

The students of Paris School of International Affairs visited the Secretariat General for the EU Affairs on Wednesday, 2 March 2011.

Dr. F.H. Burak Erdenir, Deputy Secretary General for EU Affairs, held an informal briefing session with the students, from different countries ranging from China to the United States and aim to become the future decision-makers of their countries.

"As Türkiye, we would like to proceed with our accession process to the European Union. However, certain discouraging statements of the European leaders, and policies perceived as unfair, such as visas on Turks, make the Turkish public less motivated about the European Union. Both sides clearly need each other. EU provides an anchor for Turkish reform, while Türkiye may provide solutions to the problems that confront the EU today," said Dr. Erdenir, who tackled the students' questions on Türkiye's accession process to the EU and the present state of affairs.
