1st Civil Society Dialogue Meeting Was Held

"Civil Society, Youth and Local Government on the Road to EU Membership" 1st Civil Society Dialogue Meeting was held on March 6, 2009 in MEB Shura Lounge.

Secretariat General for European Union (EUGS)believes that consultation channels with civil society organizations should be kept open within the context of Türkiye's Europen Union Communication Strategy and for this purpose EUGS has started meeting with civil society organizations.

Secretary General for EU Affairs Ambassador Oğuz Demiralp, President of TOBB Rıfat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of TÜSİAD Arzuhan Doğan Yalçındağ,  Politics and Media Counselor of Türkiye Delegation of European Commision Diego Mellado and Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağıþ gave talks in the meeting on 'Civil Society'.

On his meeting speech, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağıþ declared that he places special emphasis on the civil society. He also added that accession to European Union cannot be achieved without civil society and we have to run rather than walking in order to complete accession to European process.
