The Sixth Internal Coordination and Harmonization Committee (İKUK) Meeting was held on July 21, 2010

 

 

The Sixth İKUK Meeting, chaired by H.E. Egemen Bağıþ, the Minister of State and Chief Negotiator, was realized at EUSG with participation of representatives from all public institutions.

 

The major agenda items of the meeting consisted of the first and second platforms of Türkiye's EU Strategy for Accession. Within this context, the issues of progress covered in Türkiye's negotiations for full membership, our goals, reforms needed in the fields of harmonization with the EU Acquis and implementation and legal and administrative precautions were covered. Besides the chapter on "Food Security, Veterinary and Pythosanitary", which had been opened on June 30, work on other chapters that are foreseen to open in the following period was evaluated.


H.E. Egemen Bağıþ touched upon the joint work that he undertakes with his European counterparts in order to alter the visa regime towards particularly Turkish citizens, the issues tackled in the Türkiye-EU Political Dialogue Meeting and the prospective contribution of the regulations under the Constitutional Reform Package to Türkiye's EU membership process. Finally, H.E Mr. Bağıþ stated that a date after the constitutional referandum of September 12 and before October 1, 2010 when the National Assembly reconvenes would be appropriate for the next ICHM.
